How the Standout Armor Sets Are Obtained

The most eye-catching set is the iconic Dragon armour, described as glorious, resplendent, and red, including the Dragon Scimitar and the Dragon Crossbow. These pieces are earned through repeat adventures into the Scorned Wilderness, provided you are successful again.

Beyond Kuldra you can harvest resources to craft Ancestral Robes, Black Dragonhide gear, and Rune Armour. Claiming your rewards for a dragon-slaying job well done is what lets you gear up with new kit that carries you across the entirety of Ashenfall in relative safety and security.

The Umbral Sands region is where several of these sets come from. It allows you to craft Adamant Armour, Red Dragonhide, and Infinity Robes, plus additional vestiges including Obsidian Armour, the Obsidian shield, and the Fire Cape.

Earlier progression gives you Steel tier gear, complete with its iconic plumed Full Helm, and the launch build shipped 12 unique armour sets across 3 combat styles supported by weapons up to Iron tier.

Newer additions include the Rune Platebody, the Black Dragonhide Coif, and the Black Dragonhide Body.

Armor Obtainment Checklist

  • For a melee route, craft the Mithril Armor set along with the Mithril Sword, or take any weapon of choice.
  • For a ranged route, work toward Red Dragon Hide Armor by killing Red Dragons and turning their hides into Red Dragon Hide leather.
  • Craft the full reinforced armor set along with the bone club as an early gear goal.
  • Earn Steel tier gear, including the plumed Full Helm, as your mid-tier upgrade.
  • Head into the Umbral Sands region to craft Adamant Armour, Red Dragonhide, and Infinity Robes, plus Obsidian Armour, the Obsidian shield, and the Fire Cape.
  • Use the Nightmare Crucible to earn upgrade materials that power up your favourite weapons from lower Power Levels to max level.
  • After Kuldra, harvest resources to craft Ancestral Robes, Black Dragonhide gear, and Rune Armour.
  • Craft the newer pieces: Rune Platebody, Black Dragonhide Coif, and Black Dragonhide Body.
  • Farm repeat Scorned Wilderness runs for Dragon armour pieces such as the Dragon Scimitar and Dragon Crossbow, since these require success on repeated attempts.
